This Mongolian-style ground beef is savory, slightly sweet, and comes together in under 30 minutes. Served with white rice and steamed broccoli, it’s an easy, satisfying bowl the whole family will love.
🛒 Ingredients- serves 4 with a side of rice and veggies
- 1 lb ground beef
- 3 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- Salt, to taste
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 1 bunch scallions (green parts chopped, white parts sliced)
- 3-4 sweet peppers, sliced
- 3 chopped garlic & 1 tablespoon ginger paste (or fresh)
- Cooked white rice, for serving
- Steamed broccoli, for serving
👩🍳 Instructions
- Make the sauce:
In a small bowl, mix oyster sauce, soy sauce, and brown sugar. Set aside. - Cook the beef:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef with salt, garlic powder, and onion powder until fully browned. Remove and set aside. - Sauté the veggies:
In the same pan, cook the onion, scallions (white parts), and sweet peppers for 2–3 minutes. - Add aromatics:
Stir in garlic and ginger, cooking until fragrant (about 1 minute). - Combine everything:
Return the beef to the pan. Add the sauce and scallions, then mix everything well. Cook for about 5 minutes, until slightly thickened. - Serve:
Garnish with scallions and serve over white rice with steamed broccoli.

- Don’t overcook the sauce — you want it glossy, not dry.
- Adjust sweetness by reducing or increasing the brown sugar to taste.
