🍳Croque Monsieur Casserole

🥣Breakfast casseroles are an excellent option, especially when you have a full house during the holidays🎄. Additionally, you can customize them to accommodate different tastes and preferences! This casserole is inspired by the classic Croque Monsieur. Below is the recipe.

🍳Ingredients

  • 4 day-old croissants
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 8-10 slices of ham (I used Virginia or Black Forest)
  • 1.5 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon cracked black pepper
  • A pinch of ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme or 2 teaspoons fresh thyme
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 cups grated Gruyère cheese

🥣Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. To prepare the custard, mix together the eggs, heavy cream, and Dijon mustard in a bowl. Season the mixture with kosher salt, black pepper, and ground nutmeg.
  3. Slice the croissants and place them in an oven-safe baking dish.
  4. Sprinkle a little Gruyère cheese over the croissants, followed by the slices of ham and the remaining Gruyère cheese.
  5. Pour the custard mixture over the layers in the baking dish and sprinkle with thyme.
  6. Bake in the oven for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly. Enjoy!💫🥂
